Walking and cycling

Bike rental

Cycle through hilly landscapes, past golden wheat fields and green forests.
Take a break in a cosy village for coffee and cake.
We rent out a number of bicycles on the campsite. Would you like to hire ‘normal’ bikes or e-bikes? We have 4 e-bikes, 4 city bikes, 2 children's bikes and 2 child seats for hire.
You can hire these bikes (in advance) via the Topology app.

The range consists of 4 'normal' bikes, 2 children's trailers and 2 great BERG off road family bikes with sunroof.

Forest, planets and castles

The surroundings of camping Borken am See are worth exploring.  Walk over the forest paths and country lanes and enjoy the forests and moors. In cooperation with natural park Hohe Mark Westmünsterland and the Westfälische Heimatbund multiple walking tracks have been compiled. The routes of various distances are available at the reception of the campsite.

Route of the planets

How far is the distance between the earth and the sun? How big is the sun and how many planets are there? Answer these and many other astronomic questions by following the path of the planets. This track (6 km) starts directly from the campsite and you can follow the path by foot or by bike. With every step you travel a million kilometres. Start with the sun and walk across Venus and Mercury to the earth.

Walking near castle Raesfeld

A free map of the Tiergarten is available at the Naturparkhaus next to the castle. It contains four short routes through a park-like forest, which you can link together to form a longer route of 5.2 kilometers.

Walking: urban forest (Stadtwald) Bocholt with animals and a playground

Beautiful hiking trails, various ponds and animal enclosures with wild boars, fallow deer, red deer, goats, sheep and a lovely large playground. There is also a restaurant with a beer garden in the middle of the forest. Address: Wiener Allee, 46397 Bocholt.

Walking : Dingdener Heide

Various walks are possible in the Dingdener Heide (Hamminkeln) nature reserve.

Walking: Schermbeck

From the free car park ‘Wanderparkplatz Rüster Mark’ you can find 2 nice hiking trails for the whole family: the Ameisenpfad is a 4,2 km long barefoot path. (you can also keep your shoes on). Are you looking for a longer hike? Then choose the 'Üfter Mark Landstreifer' route of almost 14 km.

Walking: Sinsen Lenkerbeck

In Sinsen-Lenkerbeck (Marl) you can walk endlessly. The 3.3 km barrier-free Rundweg is a nice family walk. Parking at Haardgrenzweg.

Cycling : diverse and relaxing

Münsterland is called the paradise for cyclists. The ‘Borkener landscape’ is one of the most beautiful cycling regions of Germany. Well maintained and signposted paths will lead you through a slightly sloping forest and natural landscape. Discover how nature and history combine in the different cycling routes.

Cycling: 100-Castle Route Münsterland

The 100 Castles Route runs over a distance of about 960 kilometres through the green Münsterland landscape. The route connects more than 100 (water) castles, romantic castles, manors and manor houses in the region. You also take a time travel through the history of Münsterland's building culture, as every period has left its mark here.

Cycling along flamingos

You can start this tour directly from the campsite. This route is more then 450 kilometres which takes you through fascinating places and landscapes. In Vreden you can find the Zwillbrocker Venn, a beautiful nature reserve. Here you find the most northerly Flamingo route of Europe and you can admire flamingos. Don’t feel like cycling there? You can make the tour by car and go for a walk in the area. In this nature reserve you can find a broad variety of special animal and plant species. Perhaps you will meet a shepherd with the flock of sheep on the heath.
